Key Considerations  PV (Electrcity)

Area - A roof area of approximately 8sqm is required for every 1kW of photovoltaic panels. To meet 50% of a typical households requirements 24 sqm would be required.

Orientation - The photovoltaic system performs best when facing south and pitched at 35 degrees.

Shading - The panels should be mounted in a location which remains relatively shade free throughout the year.

Key Considerations  Solar Thermal (Hot Water)

Hot Water Used – A Solar Hot Water system will be most beneficial where there is a reasonable volume and a consistent pattern of hot water required.

Orientation – The solar collectors work most efficiently when they are positioned to face South and inclined at about 35 degrees.

Shading – The solar collectors should be mounted in an area which remains shade free.
