Project Sunflower and Harmony Programmes
BP are not only one of the worlds leaders in the supply and implementation of alternative
energy, in 1996 they embarked on a pioneering programme of integrating photovoltaic
panels on the canopies of their fuel stations. There are 76 such canopies in the
UK with an area equivalent to 40 football pitches and they can be found across the
UK, from Scotland right down to the south coast of England. This scheme makes BP
the single largest generators of photovoltaic electricity in the UK.
